This blog is multifaceted and I’m excited to have you here! If you are here because of music, then that is why I started this whole thing! I want you to get as much milage out of this site as possible. At the top you can find the list of each group of purposes I have here. I’m a musician and this is one way that I can continue to make music. By blogging in other areas I’m able to spend more time playing my instrument. Maybe I’ll explain how that works another time, although if you want to know – feel free to contact me! @musicbyjessiebear on Instagram. My hope is that I won’t lose my genesis in music because my goal is that each post is bent towards you! The musician!

Music
My goal is to have posts about tips, experiences, tutorials, Q&As, and analysis of music and theory. I will go over auditions, college, high school, music after graduation, and the world of professional musicians. When I was a student there was so much that I didn’t know or know where to go to find. Therefore, all the things that I wished I had known will be found here! I will try to give you everything you need to get to the next level of your musicianship journey.
Food
I thought food was a struggle when I moved out, turns out it was even harder in college. You need options, you need suggestions, you need something better than bottomless chicken strips and fries and the most boring salad bar that costs $13+. I’ll try to give something better than questionable fish sandwiches and never cleaned out drink machines. So, recipes and food ideas that might actually be more useful.

Technology
Ever changing, ever expanding, always new, always expensive. Here we will learn about lots of new toys and their applications to our craft. I use an iPad Pro + magic pencil for my music and a pedal to turn pages. They are incredibly valuable to me. It changed how things flow for me in practice, rehearsal, and performing. This is an expanding world and we need to keep up with it or at least be able to give logical reasons when we choose not to move towards a technology.
Finance
It is incredible how rare it is to find someone who is BOTH financially stable (what does that even mean??) and wise about financial planning. Musicians in particular fall into a category that tends to either barely make any money or make no money at all. I plan to be as transparent as possible in this endeavor. There are a few things to note. Just because we are artists does not mean that we are not allowed to make money doing what we love. I firmly believe that music and art should be given away. But how do we make a living if our efforts are given away? Come along for the journey and I’ll show you…
Travel
The backbone of every musician is the amount we are willing to travel in order to perform or learn. We drive to a rehearsal in our town, we take a train to the city, we take a plane across the ocean, there is nearly no limit to how far we will go to bring the joy of music to an audience. My plan is to teach you how to travel more effectively and efficiently.
